If you consume coffee, tobacco, alcohol, prescription or non prescription drugs. If you are constantly exposed to environmental toxins such as household chemicals, herbicides and pesticides, carbon emissions, cigarettes etc, then you need to detoxify your body. It’s like a tune up on your vehicle or an oil change.

In the coming weeks we are going to look at different ways, and products we can use to cleanse the body naturally both internally and externally. In addition, we will look at the importance of hydration, exercise, sleep/rest, fresh air and sunshine, and prayer/meditation.

Today We Will Look At Lemons

Lemons contain pectic fiber which is great for your colon, and has antibacterial, antiseptic and astringent properties. Lemons do well by balancing the pH levels in the body. Drinking lemon water is great for detoxification as it aids in digestion, it keeps your skin glowing, boosts immunity, helps with weight loss, and prevents kidney stones.

Drinking a glass of warm water with 1/2 squeezed lemon early in the morning on an empty stomach, is great in aiding to flush out toxins from the stomach and also aids the bowels in elimination. We can also use lemons externally. We can use lemons as deodorant when all else fails!

Lemon Essential oil can be used to cleanse the skin. When using essential oils always dilute in a plant based carrier oil such as Avocado oil, Jojoba Oil, Coconut Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, Safflower Oil, or Grapeseed Oil.

Here’s a recipe to use Lemon Essential Oil as a massage oil:

  1. Add 20 drops Lemon EO to 1/2 cup plant based oil of your choice.

  2. Mix well in a dark glass bottle and use on affected areas.
